MISSION
Develops, leads, executes, and manages the acquisition planning process for indirect (non-product) spend across Nike at a senior level for Europe spanning across all indirect procurement commodities on a Pan-European level.
Effectively contribute to shareholder’s value by reducing the total costs of ownership for indirect products and services, while mitigating the financial risks attached to it by means of solid contracts.
The Procurement Specialist represents Nike towards external suppliers. Translating internal requirements into requirements in a balanced fashion is key, which involves communicating on strategic, tactical and operational level.
Senior Professional: Responsible for applying advanced concepts, theories, principles, and practices in a professional or technical discipline that is analytical, creative, evaluative and/or advisory in nature. Conducts work requiring substantial independent judgment and devises new approaches to unique problems. Develops conclusions and makes recommendations on a wide variety of complex issues. Decisions are generally only reviewed for consistency with policy, precedent and overall effectiveness. May serve as a resource to lower level professional employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Expand Procurement’s scope:
- Lead cross-functional sourcing teams to identify and capture high savings opportunities in Europe for Nike. Implementation of agreements made to the extent that a solid contract is made, cost savings reflected in the budget and that processes are clear to all stakeholders and implemented.
‘Find the money’ – identify improvement opportunities:
- Pro-actively looking for cost savings opportunities within the organization and subsidiaries by analyzing spend patterns and the local supply base.
- Drives in multifunctional sourcing teams and leads/supports key projects identified by the team – with the budget owners. Think beyond geographical boundaries and local needs and where applicable, lift on regional, European and global deals.
- Identifies best practice and shares with EMEA Procurement function, including learning from suppliers and reviewing the market for opportunities to enhance service value.
- Develop new account management relationships with internal departments and identify & capture new opportunities within Nike EMEA. Typically more complex and sensitive areas to work in.
- Actively educate demonstrate and market the value of procurement with the business stake holders.
Continue to drive TCO savings and risk mitigation in current Procurement scope:
- Continue to work actively within existing account management relationships (internal departments) to look for improvement projects, e.g. benchmark, supplier performance management.
- Effectively renew, tender and renegotiate existing contracts.
- Ad-hoc procurement support in negotiating & contract making (e.g. key investments), opportunity scans, procurement consultancy. Challenge current situation and/or way of working.
‘Get the money’ – deliver sourcing benefits:
- Develops an understanding of the business requirements to ensure that contracts and relationships are structured and resourced appropriately
- Assists the country businesses in tendering, competitive bid evaluations and price and contract negotiations for local sourcing initiatives
- Develops new supplier relationships and embeds contracts into day to day operations
- Deliver savings as agreed with EMEA Procurement, Finance and the business
- Facilitate in supplier performance management.
- Execute Nike strategic sourcing process and best practice.
Drive operational excellence in Procure to Pay process:
- Initiate and facilitate ‘hands-free’ ordering processes for existing and new contracts.
- Support Procurement Operations in actively steering spend towards preferred suppliers by making contract information easily available, be a stakeholder in the vendor set up process and continue to educate all parties involved.
‘Keep the money’ – maintain operational excellence:
- Manages and optimizes transactional processes ,tools and systems. This includes managing of POs for hands-on purchase requisitions and directing users to the appropriate P2P channels.
- Optimize the operation of the local and EMEA supply contracts ( eg portfolio, contracts, specifications, claims) and drive spend towards preferred suppliers
- Establish operational sourcing procedures with the business for local purchases where a hands-free solution has not been put into place.
- Point of contact for EMEA Procurement to co-ordinate and monitor the process of electronically connecting suppliers with the P2P system.
Be the Procurement Competency Center in country:
- Identify and (coach business stake holders to) implement tools and templates of the Procurement Competency center. Examples are: contract templates, DIY Toolkit expansion, trainings, etc. Serve as a role model to procurement peers.
- Build effective Nike network that facilitates knowledge sharing in country and across brands.
- Build effective external network to facilitate benchmark initiatives and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed about new methods, models and concepts by reading Procurement literature.
‘Keep the money’ – measure performance:
- Ensure that local procurement practices adhere to the agreed internal controls
- Report on progress by metrics to country management and EMEA Procurement
- Monitors and manages supplier delivery performance, including setting KPIs, measuring success and continuously reviewing service levels. In addition is the point of contact for concerns, complaints and feedback and accountable for ensuring corrective action.
REQUIREMENTS
HBO/ Business Administration degree or equivalent.
Purchasing Foundation Course, ISFAH or equivalent Procurement training.
6 years demonstrated work experience in Procurement, Sourcing & Supplier Management.
CPM or Internationally Accredited Procurement Qualification.
Preferred advanced degree (but not required)
Proven analytical, project management and change management skills.
Strong listening, networking, influencing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a strong personal commitment to achieving results.
Oral/written proficiency in English.
Proficiency with current PC and IT technologies (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet, e-mail applications).
